Creating handmade pieces requires not only refined materials but also expert know-how. Officinae has thus always worked hard to forge a network of collaborations with local tailoring ateliers, breathing life into garments that are 100% Made in Italy.

Officinae is a boutique-brand that designs and creates every piece in its range in-house.
The project stems from Paola’s vision, and its aim is to create timeless garments crafted from the finest quality materials.

Her passion for handcrafted techniques, such as crochet, learned at a young age from her grandmother Elda, translates into a commitment to preserving and passing on the uniqueness of each piece through made-to-order production.

The research carried out to choose the materials used is one of the pillars of Officinae, from the rediscovery and enhancement of forgotten fabrics to the selection of the finest yarns. The result is a distinctive style designed to stand the test of time and characterised by a unique touch of originality.

All garments are crafted in Bergamo, embodying true Made in Italy craftsmanship: an artisanal, made-to-order production model that avoids overproduction and ensures personalised care for each customer.

THE PURSUIT OF QUALITY

Silk fabrics, taffeta, natural yarns such as wool and cotton are paired with jacquard techniques, hand embroidery, crochet and patchwork creations. Our quest to find the most suitable materials always plays a key role in our work.

We believe that every piece of fabric can be reused and reinvented many times. We are committed to minimising waste and using every centimetre of cloth. Officinae transforms what the industry considers surplus fabric or mere colour swatches into a precious resource, repurposed with care and attention.

Giving fabrics a second life through our shoppers

Each garment we create generates small fabric offcuts — fragments that cannot become a new dress, yet retain the full quality of the material and the craftsmanship behind each one. We set them aside, select them carefully, and put them back into circulation.

These fabric offcuts are repurposed as the pouches provided with our garments. Each one is carefully hand-crafted by Liliana, Paola’s mother. No two are alike, as each one carries the memory of the fabric with which it is made.

Officinae took its style abroad: in Wales, Morgan shared its values and vision. The result was an exclusive collaboration lasting more than ten years.

Officinae extended beyond the boutique, launching officinaelab.com: a space that tells the story of materials, details, and the authentic beauty of craftsmanship.

In Luisa’s atelier, the fabric garments are brought to life: each stage, from cutting to finishing, is carried out with care and dedication, paying individual attention to every single piece.

The knitwear takes shape in the hands of Laura and her collaborators: they transform yarn into unique creations, preserving a rare art passed down from generation to generation.

The crochet accessories, from patch scarves and cardigans to bags, are crafted one by one by Paola, who keeps all the secrets handed down by her grandmother Elda and perfected by her mother Liliana.
